Welcome to What is brutus
Congratulations! You have now a web portal installed!. You can edit or change this message from the Administration page.
What is Brutus's external conflict found in the lines?
“Between the acting of dreadful thing/And the motion, all the interim
is/ Like a phantasma, or a hideous dream./The genius and the mortal
instruments/Are then in council ,and the state of a man,/ Like to a
little kingdom, suffers then/ The nature of an insurrection.”
The main idea in this soliloquy is that when a man undertakes some
dangerous enterprise,a conflict begins to take place in his mind. Brutus
has been meditating upon Cassius's proposal that Caesar should be
assassinated in view of the fact that he might be crowned a king and
might then become a tyrant. Being a true patriot, Brutus wants to save
his country from Caesar's tyranny but when it comes to murdering Caesar
(who is a good friend of Brutus) for it he is in conflict. Thus his
external conflict is whether to save his friend Caesar or save his
motherland from the tyranny of Julius Caesar.
